Today's game was a stormy mess. We were postponed for lightening but then got ok'd to go take our seats. So mom and I made our way to the bleachers with Rhett in his stroller & my cooler since it was our week for snacks. All of the sudden it started pouring down rain, thundering, lightening and everyone was running for cover. The kids were all scared and some were crying including Harleigh! It was very scary & the whole park was nearly flooded when we pulled out.

We have been working with Rhett on sitting up but today I think he finally got the hang of it. He sat on his own for a long while. He was doing so good at balancing until he looked up. Then he hit the floor. The next thing we will know is that he'll be crawling all over the place. Right now he just spins in circles and scoots backwards. Such a biggy boy!

Today, I picked Harleigh up from school early and then we headed out to Dallas for Rhett's DSI. They put pantie hose over his head which was absolutely hilarious and then did a digital scan of his head. We will go back in 2 weeks for his fitting and then he will have to wear his helmet for the next 3 months. Hopefully, after all of this he will have a nice looking round head! Today, I had to keep my nephew Trevor all day while Amy was at class since my parents were out of town. Jarrod is also gone away at the deer lease so it was a real test. Rhett's 6th month check up

Rhett went for his 6th month check-up yesterday and weighed 15lbs. 6oz. (15%), was 27in. (70%) & his head circumference was 42.8cm (25%). He again received his Polio, Pneumococcal, DTaP, Rotavirus & Hib vaccines. I asked the pediatrician once more on her advice about his head & she said she really thinks we should go through with the DOC treatment. So I guess we will probably be getting a helmet soon. She also noticed a click in his hip so sent me straight over to Cooks for an x-ray of his hip. I got the results back this afternoon and everything looks okay. Thank goodness! His weight still dropped a little so she just wants us to try to get all the calories we can in him. Other than that he is a pretty healthy kid. No teeth yet, almost sitting on his own & a giggle box.

Harleigh has her 1st game this Saturday so tonight was the pep rally. The girls get to perform a few cheers for the players and then give them a good luck goodie bag. I was so nervous for them since this was their first time cheering in front of a bunch of people but they did so good and we were all very proud!

Well, life is crazy for me right now as I am trying to juggle home life, work & school. So, truthfully, I haven't had any extra time to spend on blogging which upsets me since I love doing it. I started back up this fall at UTA (University of Texas at Arlington) and am taking 7 hours. My goal is to apply for their nursing program in spring 2012. I actually go to campus for one of my classes on T/Th with a lab following on Th. On these days I have to leave my house at 7:45am to make it there for my 9:30 class. Pure craziness! The other class I am taking is an online course. The first week of it all was very overwhelming but things have gotten a lot better. Please wish me luck!

Harleigh started the 1st grade & loves it. She rides the bus everyday to & from school, has to read every night for 15 min. & has a spelling test every Friday. She also is cheer leading this fall for the SYA Steelers and has practice every T/TH from 6-7pm with games being held on Saturday. She is doing awesome at cheering and actually won the Most Spirit award at cheer camp this past Saturday. I was so proud of her! She also is about to start going to children's church again on Wednesday nights...so she has a busy little schedule going on herself.

Rhett on the other hand just goes with the flow. Amy comes to my house 3 days a week to watch him while I work & then I take him over there on the other 2 days while I go to class. So he is really close to his Aunt Amy & his little buddy Trevor. Rhett will soon be getting a cranial helmet here in the next couple of weeks which means we will be driving to Dallas weekly for adjustments. How we are going to work that in...I don't know yet! He will probably have to wear his helmet for 3 months. He is just now starting baby food & so far likes peaches & bananas. He is very close to sitting up on his own & is teething like crazy. He doesn't have any teeth yet but it shouldn't be much longer. He also started sleeping in his crib a few weeks ago and is doing awesome!

Jarrod just got on a deer lease this year so hunting now takes up most of his free time. He went there last weekend to set up his deer blind & feeder and is very excited for opening weekend. He has been dove hunting a few times and Harleigh gets to go with him this weekend. She is so excited! Another past time for him of course is fantasy football. So if there is football on, Jarrod is watching it!

Today, Harleigh had a 2 hour cheerleading clinic and learned a bunch of fun things. They learned how to stunt, a dance, jumps & new cheers. At the end of the clinic they handed out 3 awards...Best jump, Best motions & most spirited! Guess what??? Harleigh won the Most Spirited! I had to work today so I missed all of the 1st day of school fun. Amy had to get Harleigh ready & off to the bus stop for me. Amy took this pic for me but it turned out a little blurry. Oh well, as long as I got something. Harleigh's bus picks her up at 7:07am now so it makes for some early mornings. That means bedtime is 8 now instead of 8:30 like last year. Harleigh said her 1st day went okay & that she still misses her old class. I think this feeling is normal & that things will soon get better for her! Off to 1st grade

Tonight, Harleigh had meet the teacher night but the only problem was that Harleigh is out of town. She is in San Antonio with Mimi, Papa & cousin Kate. Quick trip to Lufkin, TX

This weekend we went to Lufkin to visit my sister & her husband. They bought a new house this spring so we went to finally check it out. It is really nice & makes us want to move out of ours. Ha ha! Friday (the 13th) we left around noon & had many things happen along the way that don't usually happen. Harleigh got stuck in the bathroom at Dairy Queen, we went through the smoke of a newly started grass fire, we were a few seconds away from having a head on collision with a car that had a blow out on the opposite side of the road and then swerved over our side and ended up in the ditch and then we witnessed a wreck in Lufkin. It was crazy! Friday night we just hung out at the house, cooked some dinner & had a few drinks! Saturday the boys went bow fishing while we went out and about. We met up with them later out at Manse & Brooke's deer lease and had a blast. We later then grilled steak and I think we were all in bed by 10:30! Sunday we just ate a late breakfast and hit the road around 11am. It was a great weekend and can't wait to do it again! My happy early birds!

Today, we spent the afternoon over at my parents since Jarrod & dad were working on cleaning & getting the camper ready for our 1st outing. Jarrod, with the help from his friend Rusty, cut a hole in the camper last weekend & inserted an AC unit. It works great & we are so excited about having AC. This morning Harleigh and I ran some errands & then waited around till daddy got home so we could go swimming. It is just way to hot out to have Rhett out in the afternoon. So Jarrod & I decided to splurge a little bit and bought Rhett this jumper last weekend. He just didn't have anything to sit up right in and play with. So maybe this will help a little bit with his head also. We will see but he seems to like it so far!

Rhett's 4th month check-up

Rhett's 4th month check-up was this morning & all went good for the most part. He received the same vaccines that he did at his 2 month which were the DTap, Polio, Hib, Pneumocca & Rotavirus. Harleigh was with me this time so she held on to one of his hands also. He screamed so loud but calmed down after a few minutes. Poor baby, I just hate shots! He weighed 13lbs. 10oz (24%), was 25 1/2 in. (72%) and his head circumference was 41.6cm (32%). Since Rhett only gained 2lbs over the past 2 months instead of 4 (dropping from 50% - 25%) we don't get to start on cereal or baby foods yet. She wants us to wait and start cereal a couple weeks before his next appointment & in the mean time up his calorie intake through the formula. Bummer....Jarrod & I had just gone out and got all the 1st foods because we were so excited to start him on them. Oh well, 2 months will fly by. Another obstacle we ran in to is the shape of Rhett's head. She said it is significantly flat on one side & has referred us to Cranial Technologies, INC in Dallas. We go for a free consultation in about a month & will learn about the DOC Band Treatment (DOC = Dynamic Orthotic Cranioplasty). If you aren't familiar....this treatment is that little helmet that you sometimes see on babies. We will learn more when we go but if he has to get one I think it takes any where from 5-12 weeks to fully correct his skull. Until then, we have to really focus more on tummy time which Rhett absolutely can't stand & we have to prop him up on his side while he sleeps. Other than that, the rest of Rhett looks great!

Tonight we cheated a little and let Rhett have some cereal. We go to his 4 month check up on Tuesday & should get to start on cereal and baby food. So Jarrod & I went out tonight and bought a box of cereal and all the 1st foods. When we got home we just had to try a little. He spit it out at first but after a while he got the hang of things. It was quit hilarious to watch. We can't wait to see all of his silly faces & to see what he will & will not like. Rhett & his 1st time eating cereal

Today we made the dreaded 10 hour drive back to Fort Worth. This time though we had extra baggage as I can proudly say that we are the new owners of my grandparents 1979 Apache Pop-up camper. This morning we went to church in the pouring down rain. Ate lunch, laid around and wondered if we were even going to get to celebrate the 4th. It was a rainy rainy day. Road Trip to NE

Today we made the long 10 hour road trip up to Nebraska. Jarrod drove the entire way while I took care of the kiddos. Harleigh sat up front to keep Jarrod company & I road in the back with Rhett. Rhett did awesome for having to be in his car seat so long. Just a couple fussy moments but for the most of the time he just slept. Harleigh did great also & we only had to stop twice along the way. Once we got there we visited & then Jack, Cheryl, Jared, Lindsey & Logan came over for dinner. We had grandmas yummy meatballs & cheesy potatoes. Then some dessert afterwards for Jarrod's birthday. It was an early night though for all of us after that. Rhett smiling for the camera

Ranger Game & Saginaw Carnival

Today was a very busy day for me. Early this morning, Harleigh & I had to go pick up her cookie dough & distribute some of it out. This was her fundraiser for cheer leading this coming fall. After that, I had to meet all the girls downtown around noon to head off to the Ranger game. A group of us girls from high school do this once a year. It is fun to catch up with everybody & just have a day to ourselves (without kiddos). Jarrod kept the kids all day & then when I got home from the game, we headed up to the Saginaw carnival. Raquel, Gage & Reagen came with us and the kids had so much fun except for the very first ride we put them on. It was hilarious...it was the one that you just stand there & the floor falls out because it is spinning so fast. Harleigh & Gage were screaming, crying & couldn't move. Funny for us but not them! Harleigh is such a great big help. She constantly wants to hold her bubba & loves moving him from his swing, to bouncer, to bumbo. Here is Rhett in his bumbo for one of the 1st times. Today was a great day! We got up early & went to church. Then we headed over to my parents for lunch. Jarrod & Harleigh ran to Academy & Cabela's and then we took Harleigh swimming. After that we took Jarrod's dad out to dinner at Boo-Rays! Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful men in my family! Jarrod & the kiddos

Today was Harleigh's dance rehersal & we had one heck of a day. We were supposed to be at the Will Rogers Auditorium at 2pm but for some reason both Sharie & I had the Fort Worth Convention Center in our heads. So our dumb butts are walking around the convention center looking for everyone & then finally realize that we are completely in the wrong area. So we all took off running back to the car & quickly zoomed across town. We ended up not even getting to the Will Rogers Audiorium until 2:45pm. Luckily we made it just in time. We were a nervous wreck though because it was stated in our instructions that if you missed rehersal then you wouldn't be able to perform at Saturday's recital! Sharie thought she was going to have to fight someone over the whole situation. It was hilarious! Me & Harleigh

We headed to Austin today to come visit Jay, Jessica, Cohen, Emery & Harper. We left after Jarrod got off work & ended up hitting really bad traffic all the way there. Today, was my first day back to the OR. So that means it was a very early morning for us. I left the house at 5:45am, Jarrod was then in charge until Amy shows up to let him go to work at 6:15am. Amy then has to get Harleigh ready & off to school by 7:15am along with taking care of the two babies. So I told Harleigh if she was good for Amy & helped her out as much as possible then she could go swimming after school. Well, Amy said all went good so after a busy day in surgery I loaded up the kids and we met Sharie up at their community pool. We stayed until 8:30pm. If was relaxing but I am completely pooped! Rhett's 1st time to the pool & sound asleep

Two month check-up

Rhett had his two month check-up this morning and has grown like a weed. He now weighs 11lbs. 9oz. (50%), is 23 1/4in. (75%) and his head circumference is 39cm (25%). He checked out wonderfully and also received his DTap, Polio, Hib, Pneumococcal & Rotavirus vaccines. OUCH!! I had to stop and get some Tylenol on the way home because they said he would probably be very fussy & feverish. Poor Baby!

This past month ...

~He went on his 1st road trip to Odessa
~He attended his 1st Texas Rangers game
~He met all my co-workers
~He visited Harleigh at her school
~Is very more alert & attentive
~Has better head control
~Is smiling & cooing
~Is sleeping 6-8hrs at night
~Is drinking 5oz. of formula every 4hrs.

Kindergarten Ceremony

This morning Harleigh had her Kindergarten Completion Ceremony. I wasn't able to attend since I am in orientation up at work. Auntie Brooke, Gigi & Great-Grandpa were there to support her though and she was thrilled to see them. Harleigh said she was so nervous to walk across the stage but she did it. How funny! Harleigh received three awards....Excellent Citizenship, Kindergarten Completion & the Maverick Award. Way to go Harleigh and off to 1st grade you go ~ so proud of you! Harleigh & Auntie Brooke

I had my interview this morning at 9am. It went great! I will be working three 12hr shifts again & start orientation on the 24th. Very exciting! Amy has agreed to be my summer sitter so that helps out tremendously. I am so thankful & blessed to have my job back....I think I need to celebrate!

One month check-up

My how time flies! I can't believe it has already been a little over a month since Rhett has been here. His check-up was at 8am this morning and I will never do an appointment that early again. It was hard to get there!!! He is looking good though. He weighs 9 lbs. 4 oz. (25%), is 21.5 in. (50%) and his head circumference is 36.1 cm (10%). He also got his second hepatitis B vaccine and screamed, screamed, screamed! It was so sad...he even had tears running down his face!

Over the past month...

~He visited Baylor hospital for the birth of his cousin Trevor
~He visited relatives for Easter
~He went to the doctor for a jaundice checkup & newborn screening
~He attended Reagan & Laiken's 1st Birthday Parties
~He has been Harleigh's #1 fan at her tee-ball games
~He attended church for the 1st time on 4-25
~He had his 1st photo shoot on 4-7
~He had his 1st sponge bath on 3-29 & 1st bath on 4-16
~He lost his umbilical cord on 4-10
~His skin is dry & flaky
~He has a lot of baby acne
~He has peed all over his changing table twice & almost pooped all over daddy
~He is very noisy...either grunting or whimpering
~He loves his bouncer & bassinet because they vibrate
~He does not care for his swing
~He loves to stare at the fan & the animals hanging from his bouncer & floor gym
~He tries to find his thumb all the time but has only succeeded a few times
~He is very strong & can lift his head for seconds at a time
~He loves being wrapped up in his minke & held close
~He is eating about 4 oz. of breast milk/formula every 3-4 hrs.

Today I watched Trevor for about 5 hours while Amy worked on her house. I got lucky!!! The boys were never awake at the same time & I even got in a cat nap with them. Trevor didn't start to fuss until Amy walked in. He must recognize her voice.

Update on formula: Rhett didn't take to the Enfamil Lipil well at all as he projectile vomited almost every time he drank some. It was a yucky weekend! So we changed to Similac Sensitive which is lactose-free and is supposed to be easier to digest. We haven't had a problem since! Knock on wood!

A day at Grandmas!

Today Harleigh, Rhett & I attended Laiken's 1st birthday party. After that we then went over to grandma's and spent the rest of the day over there while daddy and grandpa golfed in the rain. Jarrod, my uncle Ben and five other men got to participate in a chipping contest and whoever got the closest got the chance to shoot for a hole in one and win a million dollars. Guess who got that chance? Yep, my uncle Ben won the chipping contest! He didn't win the million dollars though - bummer! Meanwhile, Harleigh, Rhett, Trevor, Mom, Amy & I just hung out!

This morning I gave Rhett his 1st bath in the tub! He seemed to like the water but he got cold very quickly. After that Rhett and I went and had breakfast with grandma(who has the day off), Amy & Trevor. Then we came home and met up with Jarrod(who also has the day off) and his grandma. Then the four of us went out on the town. We went and ate lunch at Olive Garden, ran to Farmers Market & then to Old Navy where Jarrod bought him and my dad matching shirts. Then we hurried and got back to the house before Harleigh got home from school. We ended up spending the evening at my parents and my cousin Michelle came over to visit the babies for the first time!

Today, I just felt like my milk supply couldn't keep up with Rhett. It felt like I couldn't even get a 15min. break without him being hungry again. Very frustrating! So Sharie came to my rescue and bought me some Emfamil Lipil. Rhett seems to take to it pretty good and it is nice to have a short break. Hopefully, I will only have to supplement every once in awhile. We will see!

Last night Rylee broke her arm in two places while she was roller blading. They put Rylee in a soft cast & sling until her swelling goes down. So tonight we met up with them for dinner and Harleigh gave Rylee a little care package!

Today Harleigh had a game at noon. Then Jarrod & I ran the kids over to my moms so she could watch them for a couple of hours while we attended Earl & Patty's wedding reception. Then we hurried back to get the kids and headed over to Shallon & Raquel's for Reagan's 1st birthday party. We missed most of it but stayed and hung out awhile. Then we went back to moms and again she watched the kiddos for us while we went out to dinner and enjoyed some time to ourselves!
